About Project
PnP CA has been originally created in Forschungszentrum Juelich GmbH. Now it is developed by open source community. It is based on the UNICORE PNP CA, visit http://www.unicore.eu for more information about UNICORE.
Plug and Play Certification Authority (PnP CA) is a simple Certification Authority service with web interface. It is written in java, and requires no additional services configuration.
PnPCA is open source and free for personal, commercial or educational use (any use in fact), as it is licensed on a BSD-style license. Yet we still will be happy if you will point back to us if you are going to use it.
Project goals
We aim to create simple yet powerful Certification Authority Service dedicated for small and medium size networks to provide X509 infrastructure. Oryginally project application was Unicore grid middleware support, but it can be used everywhere else. This includes VPN certificates (like OpenVPN), WiFi, SSL, Https and other.
Main goal is to lower entry leve for X509 certificate management. The PKI infrastructure is quite complex, and although there are effective tools to manage it (openssl for example), but it requires good understanding of lot of a cryptography standards to use it.
Goals
- Provide all in one PKI infrastructure for Unicore grid middleware
- Easy to configure - Plug and Play
- Easy to use - simple Web interface is enough
- Provides reasonable set of features (including RSS, email notification etc.)
- Conform RFC 5280 CA/CRL profile
